The Event Pavilion is an open air structure intended to serve as a beacon for activity in the Arboretum of Barrington Shopping Mall. The design was an exercise to minimize [tenant] view obstructions while creating a protective and comfortable sense of space. The pavilion design takes into consideration ease of customer use, while encouraging interaction: The stair is centrally located; glass railings subtly define the mezzanine perimeter. A palette of earthy materials balanced with tectonic metals creates a conversation between the organic quality of the composition and the synthetic arrangement of forms & gestures.
